Continued... 

I like the area they designed for the otters. It's out in the open, there's land and a mini pool. There were a total of 4 otters, Mummy, Daddy and 2 kids. They have that small platform for them to go up to the land and they love to hang out there. There is also that mini opening at side of the wall where the zoo keepers will open and feed them.

I never thought I'd be afraid of marine fishes and goodness me.. I was super scared when i saw this huge gigantic fish tank. The size of it was one reason, another reason was the dullness of the tank. It wasn't bright like the other tanks. This was one was dark. also, the fishes were larger than me. How can i not be scared?! and one last thing would be how they placed the tree logs. They made the tank look ancient and old.

The Dugong was the largest amongst all others. They were huge and fat and their movement was slow.

This is a L191 Royal Panaque, its a catfish with spoon-shaped teeth to scrape wood and extract organic matter and micro-organism. The wood ingested is then passed out. This process breaks down large chunks of wood and speeds up nutrient recycling. Isn't it cool? fish eating wood? every fish or animal is like designed to have benefits, advantages and disadvantages.

Uaru Cichlid. It's name is derived from the native name 'uara ura' meaning 'like a mirror'- referring to its dinner-plate shaped body. Also known as triangle cichlid, this fish feeds its fry with nutritious mucus on its skin.

Xingu Platinum Pleco. Pleco lack scales. These catfish are covered with hard modified skin. they have spines on their fins to prevent large predators from swallowing them. The patterns on their skin is also unique. 

Red-Bellied Piranha. Despite them having a blood-thirsty reputation, they are beautiful on the outside as you can see, they have shiny looking scales. I didn't even know they were piranhas at first glance. 

Angel fish. They have a flat body that is not easily seen by its prey. 

They can be super slim and have benefits as well. I'm super skinny and i get mocked by my friends. The background of the tank also complements the fish.

I can't believe i discovered so many things today. And i am also now afraid of the marine life. 

         But i still enjoyed myself overall :)

On Spook's Island :)

Yet another fun day during Creative Thinking!  :)

We were all stuck on Spook's Island that day and we had to blend in with the rest of the monsters to prevent ourselves from getting eaten. 

So the fun begins... How do we blend in? 

Each of our groups brought mahjong paper, cellophane paper, egg cartons, string and garbage bag. 

Then we had certain rules like, example, the monsters can only have 1 eye, 3 fingers, long hair..

Sadly I was not the one being dressed up. I was a fairy godmother for the day and I had to transform my group mate into a monster! 

TA-DAAAAA! I transformed my friend, Carlyn into a monster!!

 

Her eyes are covered using garbage bag, covered her face with cellophane paper, drew an eye on a mahjong paper and pasted it on the egg carton on her chest, wrapped her body with garbage bag and made pants for her, so she can run easier, and also her feet to prevent them from stepping on sharp objects and to keep it cleaned until she somehow escapes from Spook's Island!

I find this monster transformation the scariest among all. There  were fingers poking out of her face, you couldn't even see her face, her body was totally covered with garbage bag with red cellophane paper. How scary is that? 

These were the other monsters in class. I'd say that everyone really did a great job! really outstanding! I love my class!! <3

Can't wait for next lesson!!!! I had super loads of fun! i enjoyed the creepy soundtrack that was being played in class! :)

Designing new packaging

Ever saw products with packaging that you really dislike while shopping? packaging that does not even complement the product and you wished you had the chance to change it? That was what me and my friends were tasked to do that day. To find bad packaging and redesign them!!! :) Below are the products that have been redesigned.

I personally love this snack, 'Tao Kae Moi'. and I love the packaging that my friends redesigned it even more. It's resealable, the ends are less sharp and the material being less noisy. hahahaha. very creative! :)

Kex. Never tried it before but the new packaging they recreated is less flat, rounder as to not crush the mini waffles inside and the color of the packaging is more attracting :)

I seriously think my friends designed this to encourage smokers to buy cigarettes. hahaha! but anyway, instead of showing rotten lungs, yellowish-black teeth, they totally changed it and used a picture of a cat, with brighter colors and with a very catchy phrase, "because cats have 9 lives".

I love eating Choco Mint as well. and my friends improved it by making the package look more interesting. The box no longer look like a cigarette box and is now air tight. How brilliant!

 This was done by my group and the previous packaging was small, which flattened the protein bar totally and what's worse was they show a big part of the inside. Honestly speaking it isn't completed and the packet looks SUPER PLAIN. Wanted to color it brown. and we wanted to make a slit at the side of the packet, where you just have to pull and you can enjoy eating the bar. We also made the see-through part smaller. haha. :)

This is a whole new never-before-seen kind of packaging which i find super duper cute. The bottom is velvet, and you can cover it to keep it fresh because it is air tight. Amazing right?

This one was a drastic change in the packaging. Previously it was just a plain plastic transparent cover. And my friends turned it into something that is super presentable. Because the first time i saw the product, i thought it was a light bulb. literally. But it's actually like a piping bag.

The previous packaging for this was also super plain. The product is a microwave egg cooker. And the packaging for this was a flimsy, plastic wrap. My friends designed it as a chicken packaging which is unique and cute! :) 

I really enjoyed this lesson :)

faces :)

Faces.

The face of a human? Animal?
Nope.
My task was to find objects/things that looked like a face.

Below are some of the faces I found :)

The very first "face" I spotted in NAFA!!! :'D  It is looking really gloomy and sad, obviously because of the bird shit!!! hahahaha.

This face was taken at the side of the foosball table that is found inside the school lounge. It is giving this -.- expression, probably sick and tired of waiting for people to play foosball. But I bet anyone who wants to play foosball will also give the same face as well, since you need to pay to play. So hey! don't look at us like that.



 This is the school lift. The lift doors are the eyes, the up and down button are the nose and the bin is the mouth. I would say it is feeling neutral since it doesn't look happy or sad.

This face was found near the traffic light! Kind of looks like it's forcing out a smile/ faking a smile. Shouldn't have though.. Now the eyes are fading away.

This face was found outside Fortune Centre, on an ATM machine. Its look says it all. "withdraw your money wisely".



Found inside Fortune Centre. It's pulling a long face, thinking, "how long more am I going to hold this light in my mouth?" 

Found this in Fortune Centre too. It is obviously sick of being there and is throwing up.

Poor thing. who wouldn't be giving this face knowing that someone is going to smash it sooner or later?

 Taken in Bugis +. That pink thing shall be the mouth and it looks happy :)

This is my friends' bag. It looks insecure so I shall close it. hahaha.

             I enjoyed myself a lot whilst looking for all these faces with my friends!! :) :) :)



Creative Thinking.

The creative thinking lesson on Tuesday was really fun and interesting as my teacher gave out tasks to each groups and we had to find creative ways of how to use them. My group was given the following :

1. How to use an umbrella

2. How to squeeze a lime

3. How to sharpen a pencil

We were all really lost at first knowing that these things can be done easily. I worked on "how to squeeze a lime" and came out with, "step on it", "cut lime in half and squeeze it" which was pretty basic and simple. So we than decide to work on "how to sharpen a pencil"

This was what we came out with.

Using an IPHONE app, a penknife, animal resources and a shaver :D We seriously had lots of fun doing this - drawing and doodling on the mahjong paper.
